CBP5106 Add/Update – Ultimate Consignee Tax or Social Security Number
Due to the recent CBP 5106 regulatory changes mandated by CBP requiring full vetting documentation and the need for a Power of Attorney, we will no longer be able to add or update importer Tax Numbers (EIN or others such as social security numbers) into the ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) of CBP. We regret that this issue has come to light, but under Executive Order 14411 and the Federal Register publication guidelines adding companies and individuals tax number into the operating system of CBP (ACE), such practices place too heavy a regulatory burden and associated liabilities on our business. To this end we will only be able to assist in CBP 5106 ‘adds’, or ‘updates’ for our clients, those with which we hold a valid and accurate power of attorney (for which full vetting has been completed).
You may choose to complete and add your CBP 5106 on file with CBP directly as per the attached guidelines, by 1) fully completing the CBP 5106, 2) affixing your signature and date, and 3) scanning the document to your computer, and 4) emailing the CBP5106 to bondquestions@cbp.dhs.gov, using in the Subject Line of the email as “NEW IMPORTER”.
